It seems rather odd that while in many provinces all “non-essential” businesses are shut down or restricted in their operations, and many people have gone unemployed, that the federal Conservative party is breaking donation records.
Regardless of the obvious utility and focus of Bill C-238 for dealing with gun violence, especially in urban areas, the Liberals and NDP defeated the bill on its second reading in favour of continuing to pursue their antagonistic gun ban against law-abiding Canadian gun owners.
Since November O’Toole’s favorable rating has taken a hard tumble, dropping down to 63 percent in the most recent Angus Reid poll, a 13 percent loss in popularity among conservatives in little over two months.

Conservative Party of Canada leader Erin O’Toole is attempting to remove Hasting-Addington and Lennox MP and former CPC leadership candidate Derek Sloan from the party caucus after the publication of a smear article from Press Progress.
The Liberal government has signaled that this is something they will fight to see through, although the CCFR noted that in the mandate letter Prime Minister Justin Trudeau handed down to Blair stated very little about their current gun control policies. This may or may not be signalling an acknowledgment by the Liberals that their gun ban may get derailed in court before it can be fully implemented and don’t want to overemphasize that area of their policy.
So far the answer seems to be a definite no unless the polls start to radically shift towards the Conservatives, or the polls are wrong in a significant way. Trudeau seems to be posed to win at least his minority government position back, which may not do much for his popularity as it would have felt like a waste of time.
So despite the veil of commitment to work with partners in developing these legislations, the Trudeau government is pushing through a gun ban that would only harm legal firearm owners, without any consultation.
Upon Phillips’ return from St. Barts, Ontario Premier Doug Ford accepted Phillips’ resignation as the Finance Minister, despite Phillips earlier on Thursday morning saying that he would like to keep his job but understands if he was let go.
