In the aftermath of a cabinet shuffle that saw Trudeau change around 20% of his previous cabinet makeup and a nosedive in the polls for the Liberals in the last few days, Trudeau has decided that Canadians are at fault for disapproving of his government.
The difference today is that not only is Trudeau plagued by more new scandals and policy failures, but it seems to have finally caused a massive public opinion shift against Trudeau over the last year.
The media’s sudden fascination with scrutinizing Poilievre’s personal appeal to voters has little to do with believing it’s actually worth analyzing. The “neutral” commentators in the legacy media just don’t want to have to focus on the real popularity issue, that being the failing agenda and public trust in Trudeau and the Liberal government.
This leaves only 67 percent of 2021 Liberal voters polled who said they will still be supporting the Liberal Party come the next election.
Considering that the Liberal Party is considered the “natural governing party of Canada” these polls are nearing 2011 levels of catastrophic for Trudeau’s prospects of remaining prime minister.
Right now, Justin Trudeau is facing poor public polling numbers, multiple ongoing scandals, as well as worst of all having less than half of the donations as the Conservative Party in the first quarter of 2023.
For a long while Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party felt that they could rest easy despite being behind the Conservative Party for nearly a year in average polling numbers. This is because the Liberals could always point to “preferred prime minister” polling to show that a plurality of Canadians still preferred Trudeau over Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre and NDP leader Jagmeet Singh.
What makes Singh’s neutral rating worse than Trudeau’s is Singh is in a position where it should be very easy to be popular. All he should be doing is attacking the Liberal government and trying to browbeat them into passing legislation he wants in exchange for providing NDP votes for Liberal legislation
Yes clearly Canadians are not upset about the out-of-control inflation, Liberal Party corruption, and restrictions on firearm ownership and free speech the federal government is pursuing, every Canadian not selecting the Liberals in phone polls suddenly just became big old racists.
Although it has been said many times before and has been wrong, right now it does genuinely feel like Canadians are becoming tired of Justin Trudeau and the Liberals governing Canada. Trudeau had his ups and downs in the polls before the 2019 and 2021 elections, but for several months now it has seemed like the Liberals are only ever down, outside of a few outlier polls.
