It’s safe to say that what benefits Israel, will most likely benefit the Middle Eastern countries who made peace with Israel in one way or another. A one-state solution in which Israel governs the land is a good thing. While in the past, a one-state solution may have been popular in left-wing politics, the 2005 Gaza withdrawal completely changed things.
Erin O’Toole often said during the leadership race that the UNFCCC Paris Agreement targets were “non-binding” seemingly as a way of not upsetting the base by supporting it, while still keeping his foot in the door to embrace it once he became leader.
Many Canadians were expecting to receive Canadian Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) payments on September 1. However, the cheques are currently a day late, so some have taken to Twitter to complain about the holdup and then complain at those pointing out their entitlement. O’Toole spent the entire campaign marketing himself as the “True Blue” conservative, but there were many people inside the Conservative base who felt that O’Toole and MacKay were both establishment Red Tories, while the real Conservative candidates were Leslyn Lewis and Derek Sloan.
Canadians should be very interested in how, over the next month, Canadian media operates as it will be an indicator of where modern journalism stands. Are we living in a time where journalists are the defenders of truth, or corruptible political mercenaries?
It would be strange to have people not motivated enough to research the candidates and send in a ballot to choose Sloan, someone they likely have never heard of before. This is to say if the poll was reduced to only the 47.8% of people who likely voted then Sloan would probably still have somewhere around 11.2% which is 23.4% of the vote on the first ballot (11.2/47.8).
Trudeau of course always has more cabinet ministers around him to fire, but fewer and fewer Ministers who can really be said to have known better if something goes awry – an issue exasperated by the other Liberal ministers Trudeau has forced to resign in the past.
