Now the CEO of AHS who was in charge of the operation of Alberta’s medical system during the pandemic is out of a job. Dr. Verna Yiu was fired by the UCP government, likely wanting to get rid of her for mismanagement at AHS only after COVID-19 had passed because Premier Jason Kenney and his cabinet feared causing a scandal by removing her sooner.
Ontario has mostly reopened at this point, with mask mandates, lockdowns, and vaccine mandates presumably behind the province, but it seems like Premier Doug Ford’s PC government does not want to let go of all the new powers it granted itself over the last two years.
Possibly Ford’s worst misstep over the past two years was his ejection of Cambridge MPP Belinda Karahalios from the PC caucus for being the only PC MPP to vote against Bill 195 the “Reopening Ontario Act” as she and her husband Jim Karahalios have started the quickly growing New Blue Party of Ontario.
This morning, the Ontario Police had Independent MPP Randy Hillier surrender to them on charges relating to his attendance at the Freedom Convoy protest in Ottawa during January and February.
Bill 67’s push to teach students about “racial equity” would make all programming fundamentally racist as it would promote discrimination based on race. Students will presumably be taught artificial racial balance must be achieved or one group must be promoted over another in the name of ‘social justice,’ rather than simply teaching kids about equality and individualism.
The landlord of the building the Iconic Cafe rents space in has apparently now arbitrarily decided to evict them for being “behind on rent” in spite of the fact that is true about many businesses around the area. It also comes after the Khuns were able to pay back over $15 000 following their business boom during the Freedom Convoy
Yesterday the Ontario Provincial Legislature passed a motion unanimously to allow the Speaker of the legislative assembly to bar Independent MPP Randy Hillier from entering the chamber due to “continued disreputable conduct.”
Peter Sloly has resigned as the Chief of the Ottawa Police and will be making a public statement later today after the Ottawa Police Service board meeting.
The Ontario PC government has just announced that Attorney General Doug Downey has brought an application to the Superior Court of Justice which has effectively frozen all donations made to the Freedom Convoy 2022 organization on GiveSendGo.
The National Telegraph has just gotten word from a source inside the Ottawa police that one of their staff sergeants has resigned from his position today, likely over a disagreement with the city’s policing philosophy towards the Freedom convoy.
