In a move that will satisfy a lot of Conservative voters in Alberta who became fed-up with the Alberta government’s draconian approach to COVID-19 restrictions and mandates between 2020 and early 2022 Premier Danielle Smith fired Chief Medical Officer Dr. Deena Hinshaw.
So far the leadership race has mostly circled around issues of Alberta sovereignty, the personal autonomy of Albertans, and getting the economy back on track, but nobody had yet to talk about a clear plan to actually cut the out-of-control spending by the Alberta government, nobody except for Todd Loewen.
The constant refrain from politicians in Canada is that we need to better fund our provincial healthcare systems in order to fix the inefficiencies. Now the CEO of AHS who was in charge of the operation of Alberta’s medical system during the pandemic is out of a job.
