Rachel Notely Endorses Idea To “mandate the collection of race-based data”

Alberta NDP leader Rachel Notely posted a tweet today that states “It’s not enough to not be racist, we must be anti-racist,” above a video where she explained the Alberta NDP’s plan to “combat racism” which itself seems pretty racist.

Notely promoted that the NDP is putting forward private members legislation “to mandate the collection of race-based data,” which inherently means the NDP deeply cares about the race of Albertans and considers race an important characteristic of individuals.

This is a ridiculous and racist way of thinking. To not be racist one has to stop caring about race. You don’t judge people based on their race and instead, you judge them as who they are as an individual.

To be what the NDP and other leftists call an “anti-racist” you in contradictory fashion must start caring a lot about what peoples’ skin colour is and where their family heritage is. This is also odd since it is typically viewed as offensive to ask people what part of the world their family is from.

“Anti-racism” has really nothing to do with actually stopping racism and promoting equality, it is about promoting equity. The NDP clearly wants to get ahold of race-based data because they want to see where certain groups of people are ‘underrepresented’ based on an arbitrary belief that everyone is of society all groups should be represented equally to their proportion of the population.

The NDP would then advocate for something like “diversity” mandates and force departments in the Alberta government and public corporations to hire people based on their race, and hold “anti-racism training.”

It is what is known as the ‘racism of the gaps’ argument where people will find a gap in society where one group is underrepresented compared to others and instead of trying to find out the nuanced reason as to why that is, instead they just claim that gap is due to racism.

This is incredibly simplistic and insulting as it takes people’s agency away and pretends as if people are not individuals who all have their own interests, experiences, and priorities. The NDP seems to think people are merely representatives of others who have physical characteristics similar to them.

As a general rule if you need to do data analysis based on people’s race to find “racism” then racism is not a major problem.

Rachel Notely and the NDP in her tweet are trying to project that only those who hold their radical beliefs on racial equity are real non-racists and everyone who simply says they are “not racist” could be secretly racist, especially if they are a conservative.

In reality, Notely and the NDP just exposed themselves as racists due to their extremely discomforting focus on Albertans’ racial backgrounds.
