MPP Belinda Karahalios fills Political Void with Ontario’s Newest Political Party

This Thanksgiving weekend, Jim and Belinda Karahalios released a video on YouTube addressing their supporters expanding on some of the circumstances that lead to her dismissal from the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party caucus. This was previously reported on by The National Telegraph on August 17th 20020.

In the video independent MPP Belinda Karahalios and her husband Jim Karahalios, who was disqualified in the Conservative Party of Canada’s leadership race, gave an insiders look into some of the politics within federal and provincial conservative parties.

They describe quite blatant corruption within the political machine of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario (PC) and the federal Conservative Party of Canada and seems to believe this is a regular pattern of behaviour within the conservative political establishment.

The Karahalios’ said that after much fruitless effort within the Ontario PC party and their ongoing attempts to bring about positive reforms from the inside of the party, they have come to the conclusion that the Ontario PCs are incapable of change.

Some of their detractors within the conservative establishment have accused the Karahalios’ as being motivated by ego and turning against the PC party. However, the evidence doesn’t seem to support this assertion as it was Premier Doug Ford, and the party president Brian Patterson who expelled Belinda from the party caucus and denied her the ability to run again for the party while simultaneously working to destroy her district association

Jim told The National Telegraph, “The democratic system in Ontario has been hijacked by a bunch of backroom boys running all of the major political parties. The worst example of this is in the Ontario PC Party. MPPs no longer have the right to speak out on anything and Ontario voters are left without democratic representation at Queens Park.”

The new conservative party announced by Jim and Belinda Karahalios in their video is called New Blue Party of Ontario, a direct reference to the role the Karahalios’ see the party having – replacing the current PC party as is continues to adopt policies more inline with Kathleen Wynn’s Liberal Party of Ontario.

The Karahalios’ likely will be accused of starting another People’s Party of Canada (PPC) in an attempt to smear their name with the same labels the radical left and conservatives have attempted to ascribe to the PPC. However, unlike Maxime Bernier’s new federal party, New Blue has a much more clear ideology and goals in contrast to the mostly populist and often changing PPC.

In the update video Jim said:

There is no other option for voters in Ontario who believe in grassroots democracy, who believe that the parties should not all be agreeing with each other on every major policy and who want to deliver a platform of defending the taxpayer, not destroying small businesses, protecting places of worship, and so we have not other option to help but to start a new party, so it’s the New Blue Party of Ontario for us moving forward.

Mr. Karahalios appears to hold a consistent worldview in line with the values and policy guidelines of the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party, a party he was involved with for the past fifteen years. The key difference is the Karahalios’ in the New Blue Party are seeking to fulfill those very promises and keep the party accountable to its membership.

Speaking to The National Telegraph, Mr. Karahalios said, “The PC Party operates in such a way that sabotages what they claim to stand for.”

At the end of the video Mr. Karahalios hinted at not only helping to build the party around Belinda Karahalios MPP large base of support in Cambridge in the next Ontario election in 2022 as a New Blue candidate, but also opening their party to independent MPP Randy Hillier also kicked out of the Ontario PC party for questioning the positions he was blindly expected to support.

If Mr. Hillier decided to support the Karahalios’ it could help quickly bring their new party into the limelight of legacy and alternative media as all three of them are popular figures in Ontario politics among grassroots members of the Ontario PC party.

The New Blue Party is well on its way to securing the required 1000 signatures to complete it’s official registration. Once completed the vacuum left by the former Liberal Party of Ontario  may be filled and present a possible alternative to Ontario voters frustrated with Premier Doug Ford’s shift to the political left and the 16 years of fiscal mismanagement by the previous Kathleen Wynne government.
