The Liberals and Conservatives Join Together to Undermine Canada’s Oil and Gas Industry

Canada’s Liberal party introduced Bill C-12, “An Act respecting transparency and accountability in Canada’s efforts to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2050” in late 2020.

This bill seeks to legislate the new emission targets Trudeau has set in working to achieve Canada’s benchmarks as per the UN Paris Climate Accord.

It is no surprise that Justin Trudeau and his Liberals introduced this bill, despite significantly underperforming on his previous emissions targets, in order to hold the government accountable in meeting his now even more inflated targets. What is surprising for many Canadians is that their Conservative party, who is supposed to be the Liberal’s opposition, is offering their support for this bill.

The now Independent MP for Hastings-Lennox & Addington, Derek Sloan, was a lone voice of opposition to C-12 and expressed his disappointment with his former colleagues in the House of Commons, stating:

Shutting down projects like Keystone won’t decrease global oil demand… It will ensure that we import more oil from Saudi Arabia, and others, who have awful environmental and human rights track records. I know why the Liberals and others will be supporting this bill, but I am very surprised the Conservatives and Erin O’Toole support this.

One would generally expect that the Conservative government would stand for the Canadian economy, Canadian jobs, and Canadian values, by supporting our oil and gas sector, but with Erin O’Toole as the leader, it isn’t quite clear why we even bother with an opposition party.

Erin O’Toole is turning his back on his own party’s principles in order to further his own power. Following in the footsteps of Jagmeet Singh, who sold the NDP out to Trudeau.

A one-party state gives all in government, especially leadership, far more control. Any dissenting voices will simply be ousted from the party, we’ve already seen this with MPs such as Derek Sloan, Randy Hillier, and Belinda Karahalios from the Ontario PCs, and Ramesh Sangha from the federal Liberals, just to name a few.

No doubt many Western Canadians will feel very alienated by the way the three major parties seem to negatively view the oil and gas industry which may see a significant break in support go towards the Maverick Party.

With not only his opposition in parliament but also newly elected President Biden standing by him, it really doesn’t appear as though Trudeau has much standing in his way.

Traitors ALL. I have voted Liberal for most of my adult life and did vote Conservative for Harper’s first term. In retrospect, my voting for Trudeau in his first term was a colossal mistake. He is not loyal to Canada, but rather to his Communist masters in the CCP. His Finance Minister and Deputy Prime Minister is no better, as she is close friends with the notorious globalist George Soros.

Canada, in particular Western Canada are going to be reduced to have not provinces. Maybe it’s time to have a serious look at separation from the rest of Canada. As sad as that would be, at least we would not be under the political thumb of the sell out Liberals, Conservatives and NDP. The People’s Party of Canada is also worthy of consideration in my view.
