Sloan: The Great Purge Has Begun

Written By Derek Sloan, Posted on March 6, 2021

When I was ejected from the Conservative caucus, I made it clear the controversy wasn’t just about me, but about silencing the many thousands of voices like mine within the party, and in society.

They want people like me to vote and donate to the party, but otherwise to sit down and shut-up. It’s why the party got so upset when I started encouraging my followers to attend the upcoming Conservative Convention. They are scared that strong Conservatives will actually take action against the Red-Tory, Liberal-lite leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada.

But the purge that brought me to the chopping block is just beginning. For those who are not content to sit down and shut-up, O’Toole is beginning the great membership purge.

I’ve received various emails from prominent Conservatives informing me that their membership has been suspended and will be revoked.

Further, my team has seen hundreds and hundreds of emails from people highlighting irregularities in the lead-up to the Conservative Convention. Every phase of delegate selection; whether to become a delegate, voting for delegates, etc., has had irregularities. We’ve heard from people not receiving e-ballots, names messed up on ballots, people left off ballots, and the list goes on. In the case of my parents, they were listed as David David and Erika Erika. After a lawyer was retained that delegate election was restarted and their names were listed properly. Notwithstanding, early results show a significant number of delegates are Sloan supporters. In O’Toole’s own riding, for example, half the slate are true blue conservatives.

I recently dealt with my own appeal  – wherein the party sought to remove my candidacy and membership from the party. Of course, I haven’t done anything that would warrant this based on the CPC’s own constitution and bylaws – but they didn’t let that stop them, and they haven’t even been following their own rules – for example by providing me with any reasons for the move to remove my candidacy or pull my membership.

It’s tough to estimate how deep the purge will go, but it appears the CPC is doubling down on the premise of: “Play it safe, don’t do anything controversial, and people will naturally see the Liberals are corrupt and vote for us”. That was our strategy in 2019, and it got us nowhere. With Jody Wilson Raybould, SNC-Lavalin, Blackface, and more, the election would just fall into our lap, right? Wrong. People need someone to vote for, not just someone to vote against.

Right now the Conservative leadership believes excising any sore thumbs from the party is the way to appeal to GTA area soccer moms. That’s their actual strategy right now. Literally. And they appear to be willing to alienate the base to do it.

That’s why they’re voting in favour of Bill C-12, the Liberals net-zero bill implementing Part 2 of the Paris Agreement – an Agreement I was vociferously against in the leadership race. The Paris Agreement is of course the very justification for things like carbon taxes and fuel standards – things the Conservatives are ostensibly against, though a recent Toronto Star article speculates Erin may be reneging on his opposition to the carbon tax.

It’s also why the Conservatives have been completely silent on the lockdowns, and on the blatant infringements of civil liberties in government-mandated quarantining of returning travellers. I’ve been the only Federal politician to speak out on these issues (aside from the recent comments of Michelle Rempel, though it took the allegations of sexual assault to raise her ire, the simple infringement of Charter Rights prior to the alleged sexual assault was not enough apparently). The Conservatives have been curiously silent.

Their half-cocked strategy augurs ill for electoral success in the next election. The same day I was booted from caucus it was announced Keystone XL was cancelled. The coup de grace of this bungled trio will be every Conservative MP voting for Bill C-12. Not even the Conservatives have enough votes in Alberta to cushion them from these decisions.

How cowardly and short-sighted, but right in line with O’Toole’s environmental and liberal-lite pedigree. O’Toole happened along at just the right time – with bluer conservatives like Pierre Poillievre deciding not to run, and Peter Mackay openly running as a Red Tory. The party base was duped by O’Toole, but the mask is off now.

O’Toole can despise the base as much as he likes in his effort to win the soccer mom vote, but when O’Toole significantly underperforms Andrew Scheer in this next election his base won’t be there to help him, and the urbanite soccer mom will still not know who he is, much less care about his short path to the proverbial woodshed. His leadership may prove as short-lived as it is disastrous – for the Conservatives, as well as for Canada.

Some good points but it leaves us with not knowing what to do or where to vote in the coming election.

Derek Sloan . Canada needs people like you in parliament. I think you should join the Republic party of Canada and the same with the rest that got kicked out of the Conservatives. O tool is a worthless tool . He is no better than JUSTIN TRUDEAU. And Canada doesn’t want or need Communist people like that ever. I don’t remember his name but the one that asked for parliament to take a wag decrease to what Cerd is at $2000 a month would be great to have on the team also.

They don’t have to purge me, I sent back my renewal notice saying I would not renew.

  5. Sue says:

Kudos to you Derek Sloan, We really need a party apart from these two. Where do we go, what do we do. If there is another party, it really needs to get ALL the people behind it or we risk vote splitting and letting the turd back in. What are we going to do as what we are doing isn’t working and so many people are hard core one side or the other with not enough with open eyes to see what is going on.

  6. Bronwen Jack says:

We need a party for the people. Where do we go now?

And yet, you sound like you’re a sheep following Trudeau.

  9. Nancy Walten says:

Derek I gave up on what was the Conservative now another globalist liberal Party. They need a FOR Canada and Canadians leader they missed the shot by not getting you in, the Liberals really would have a fight to stay a party with a real moral Canadian Conservative leader, like yourself. Pierre Poilievre is also a real Canadian trustworthy Conservative and just like you, actually transparently really seriously communicates with us, like we need. Erin O’Toole is slinking secretly around and even less than Scheer tells us nothing useful he seems and probably is untrustworthy, maybe worse than the globalist Liberals. We need you, where do we vote? I cannot vote globalist liberal Conservative.

  10. Svetlana says:

Canada is unrecognizable. The propaganda and it’s obviousness are humiliating and disturbing. People feel stuck with shit for politicians we have got. People in each riding (federally and provincially) should be able to evaluate and kick out the bad ones before their term is up, ESPECIALLY in times like these – when our kids’ future is being compromised by irresponsible spending and economy destruction. THANK YOU, Derek, for seeing clearly through all the bullshit and SPEAKING UP and helping people see the truth.

  11. Jim Szpajcher says:

I voted CPC in 2015. I voted PPC in 2019. I will vote PPC again. Derek: there already is a viable party other than the Conservatives.

It sounds like the Conservatives need to relearn the lesson of 1993 all over again. When O’Toole says there is no room in the Conservative Party for Conservatives, one wonders: why didn’t he join the Liberal Party? Or better yet: the Greens?

  12. clarence vankoughnett says:

well well! Looks to me as if the CPC has lost thousands and thousand of support. I for one handed in my card
and asked for a refund on my membership hahah nice try on that one EH..any way I have just joined the P.P.C,
I have read there platform and like it sounds very honest and straight forward I suggest all CPC. members take
a good long look as I did read there platform THAN join the other thousands of C.P.C voters and be a winner
in the next ELECTION. my feeling is JUNE will be the call to vote
    VIVA LA’ P.P.C.

  13. Johnny B. Liberal says:

O’Toole knows he’s going to lose the next election.

But he doesn’t want to get fired from being a failed Leader of the Conservative Party like his timid, media-cowering predecessor Andrew Scheer was.

O’Toole doesn’t want to lose the generous financial benefits of being the Leader of the Official Opposition, including the more generous fat-stacks government pension he’ll get by clinging to power.

To hell with the best interests of Canadians when there’s money at stake for him.

That’s why he demoted Pierre Poilievre, and why he ousted Derek Sloan: Knock down the competition for his job.

    O’Toole’s strategy is:

    a) lose the next election, accepting the fact that he’s incapable of leading a winning campaign
    b) cling to his job as failed Leader of the Official Opposition for as long as possible, keeping the benefits of a free house & associated benefits
    c) retire with a richer pension for being a Cling-On for as long as possible after his upcoming election loss.

As long as Conservatives keep running rigged leadership elections that install weak & ineffective Liberal-Lite leaders, the disastrous election outcomes that result from having people like Scheer & O’Toole in leadership positions will continue.

  14. Rik Stolar says:

Derek is correct and it is why I have left the Conservstive party.

  15. Lise Belanger-Martens says:

Thank you for your efforts Mr Sloan, we need more leaders like you! We too have a swamp to clean up, that’s quite obvious.

  16. Irene Shandroski says:

O’toole is not a leader but a follower of the Liberals. He is no better then Trudeau who is destroying Canada freedom and selling out to China. What have we to vote for? We need a leader with a love for Canada godly wisdom, integrity, courage to lead Canada well if not, our country will not be successful. Blessed are they who maintain justice who constantly do what is right!
    Irene Shandroski

  17. Brian Carriere says:

Keep fighting..Canada need a true leader..o’tool or Trudeau aren’t it..

  18. Terry says:

Lets get rid of the garbage and get them out along with Trudeau!!! I hope Derek you would run in the next election! I think it would be a definite win from what I have been hearing!! We are tired of the Liars, Thieves, And Heartless Politicians that only care for their own Bank Account!! When you die you won’t be able to use it to pay to get upstairs!!! We need someone who will work for WE THE PEOPLE!! My Mom told me OVER 50 years ago saying that the Bible says that one day we will have corrupt government and there will be a third world war!!! I think it is coming!!

  19. Lauraine Dube says:

Derek, I hear a note of bitterness in your writing, and I urge you to get rid if it. Nothing can be won with the wrong attitude. We do not like what Erin has done to you, but going up against him will not defeat the Liberal party in the next election. We must stand unified, and after we win, we can fix what is wrong in the Conservative party. Derek, show us that you are made of the right stuff to be a great leader!

    • Ray Erker says:

Get over it. The man has been shit on by a corrupt communist Ahole. Stop getting so offended by words, and step into the reality of life.

  20. Olive Doreen Cyr says:

The UN,WHO,elites, and corporate control of all the governments need removed.
If Canada were to take care of Canada and quit letting other countries do all the manufacturing we could get rid of the corrupt bankers and Corrupt UN.
Remove the Chinese embassy and military from Canada and never allow an enemy to train
On our land again. Close all immigration until we remove all illegals and terrorist.
Bill Gates should not be buying or supporting anything in Canada, he has committed many crimes against humanity, right along with the UN.
Canada has everything it needs to take care of Canadians, there is no reason for the cost of living to be so high.
    Unions to need stepped on.
Time to fix our country and bring back our sovereign rights and constitution for every community, province and federal. For the people by the people.
The UN owes the people of Canada trillions of dollars for their worldwide Ponzi scam.
We are not in debt, the UN is though.
Kick them all out of Canada and fix this nation. The constitutions are ready, time to stand strong against NWO and the ones shadow governing against the country

  21. Sherry Metivier says:

How do we get you in front of this party. If not, it is just another train wreck.

  22. Robert Gale says:

Erin O’Toole has in a record short time shown many of his campaign promises to be misleading at best with the appearance of being outright false very probable. His heavy handed "my way or the highway" approach to dealing with contention within the party does not show the consideration for ideas other than his own that the Conservative brand is supposed to stand for and claims to uphold. In short he has shown himself to be not at all that different from Trudeau in some regards and that is troublesome. He is alienating a lot of his bases supporters and seems not to notice or care. The problem he brings is who does a Conservative vote for now? —

  23. Carolyn Danczak says:

    SLOAN FOR PM ASAP

  24. Gerrit Van De Rozenberg. says:

If the CPC wouldn’t work, take Pierre, Randy and some others and start your own " Canada First " party.
Deploy a no nonsense and non political correct program.
The majority of Canadians have had enough of this liberal destruction of our " once " great country.
We could be the " Dubai " of the America’s, with our natural resources and do so much good inside and outside our great country.
It’s all about the choices we make.
What I have seen from Derek so far looked like the leader I am looking for.
Reign with common sense, and not with utopic views like the others.
And you will get the needed votes.

  25. Kevin Robert Churchill says:

These many published stories of instability with in the Conservative party is just what the Liberals were hoping for. This is what drives the undecided and the ignorant to go with the devil they know Trudeau vs. the devil they don’t Erin O’Toole. I would like to say well played except I’m a Conservative watching and reading as my ideology gets flushed down the crapper because of slick political maneuvering.
