Are The Mask Zealots Killing Kids?

The current cry from the media-sanctioned health experts is the current presence of three different respiratory illnesses: COVID, RSV, and the flu. There is also a very worrying trend we have seen of an increased child mortality rate in flu and RSV cases. All of this is true, but the problem may be that the rhetoric and solutions offered by the expert class may indeed be driving the current problem.

One of the good things about the COVID pandemic, if one would be comfortable enough in the academic exercise of drawing silver linings from a pandemic, is that the disease had a very low child mortality rate. In Canada, the average age of a COVID death was higher than life expectancy.

In a functional society, we would have had a healthy conversation about how to live with this disease while trying to protect the most vulnerable. The only place in North America where that was accomplished was Florida where governor Ron DeSantis kept the state open while putting protections on the nursing homes.

However, in Canada, a nuanced discussion on COVID was nearly impossible due to our government and big tech. During 2020 any outlet, like The National Telegraph, that did not have connections in the board rooms of the big tech giants would get their content downgraded or removed if they talked about COVID-19 or vaccines in any context. To make matters worse, governing bodies of physicians like Ontario’s CPSO (College of Physicians and Surgeons Ontario) issued an edict that made spreading “misinformation” illegal. However, this included disagreements with any public health recommendations including criticism of masking, social distancing, and lockdowns.

This effectively turned our medical institutions from ones of science, into a religious following. The acolytes of Dr. Theresa Tam were assumed into the priesthood and given the rank of “expert” to appear on TV to proselytize to the masses. This is the situation we are currently in, where all that appears on government-funded TV is the mantra of “mask up, boost up, lockdown”. Any doctor with a heterodox position would risk ex-communication (loss of licence) for the crime of apostasy (spreading “misinformation”).

That leaves it to those in alternative media to put forward the argument that maybe all of these measures, taken over an extended period of time, have started to manifest unintended consequences. Particularly the fact that never before have we seen such an attempt, over such a period of time to put a hold on a child’s immune system.

The logic of this claim is that children are going through vital stages of development on all fronts, and therefore would suffer more long-term consequences of the over-sanitized world of 2020 and beyond. Adults, on the other hand, already have fully-formed immune systems which were less hampered by the sanitizer-drenched COVID world.

This is not to say that all germs are good and therefore you should take your toddler to your local ICU to lick the floors, but that there is a healthy balance between that and the world that the most puritanical covidians advocate for. Anyone who has interacted with a toddler knows that they don’t really cover their mouths when they cough and aren’t the most respectful of personal space. Maybe the natural state of small children carelessly playing together with runny noses has some good evolutionary utility.

On that note, there is another problem with the masking zealot’s logic. They work from a perspective that everyone would follow the most strict masking protocols. Personally, the cloth mask I kept in my pocket to avoid conflict during the pandemic was probably doing more harm than good.

You do not need a Ph.D. in Child Psychology to come to the conclusion that small children probably have different mask care habits as opposed to someone like Nili Kaplan-Myrth on Adderall. In these conditions it is possible that these masks on the kids are actually acting like disease vectors, holding the strains of RSV on the masks providing a constraint stream of the virus pouring into our children.

Children were released back into schools with stunted immune systems after being mostly locked up for two years in overly-sanitized environments and they are still required to wear dirty cloth masks and the experts cannot see a connection between all that and increasing rates of flu and RSV cases.

Most of us are familiar with Einstein’s definition of insanity, trying the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Nothing better encapsulates our current COVID experts who say “mask up, boost up, lockdown” and when they see the consequences the only conclusion possible was that we did not mask, vax, and lockdown hard enough.

Regardless of your personal political beliefs, you have to acknowledge that we went from a situation where we had a disease that spared the young and focused on the elderly, and the inversion of this model is deeply troubling. Moreover, if we are to properly confront this problem we need to conduct science as it is intended to, not as a religious cult. It is time to listen to some new ideas, as invention and innovation requires courage and exploration, not political mandates and political correctness.
