After Canceling his Political Opponents, O’Toole takes a Stand against Cancel Culture

Written By Wyatt Claypool, Posted on July 3, 2020

On Canada Day, Conservative leadership hopeful Erin O’Toole was in Ottawa filming a video decrying how ’cancel culture’ is coming for the Canadian flag.

While there has yet to be a mainstream movement to cancel the Canadian flag, Erin O’Toole is certainly right to oppose whatever radical faction is pushing for it.  However, the major problem for O’Toole is that he has been a willing participant in cancel culture when it has suited his needs.

Back in March, CPC leadership candidate Jim Karahalios called out Erin O’Toole’s campaign chair, Walied Soliman, over his support of the carbon tax, his involvement in election fixing scandals, and a 2007 op-ed he had written in support of Sharia financing.

As a result, Erin O’Toole’s campaign pushed to get Karahalios kicked out of the race.

Erin O’Toole is certainly correct when he talks about how dangerous the ideology of ‘cancel culture’ can be.  However, his contention that it is exclusively a problem of the radical Left is undermined by his own willingness to cancel others when it benefits his political ambitions. This is evidently no “true blue” Conservative.

If Erin O’Toole really wanted to send a message on the negative effects of ‘cancel culture,’ perhaps he should retract his complaint and let Jim Karahalios back into the race.

Let the Conservative members decide for themselves whether Jim Karahalios is worthy of becoming leader. The decision to exclude this man from the race is proof that Consrvative politicians are no different than any other political party.

The Conservative Party is just as corrupt as the Libersl party. Proof is the Jim Karahalios fiasco, that O’Toole orchestrated and the political elites of the CPC pushed. Total BS
