True to its nefarious nature, the regime has even found a diabolical political function for COVID-19: instead of drawing the ire of activists and international human rights organizations by executing the prisoners of conscience or keeping them in prison for a long time, it is letting the deadly virus eliminate these undesirables.

Hardline Revolutionary Guards’ Commander becomes Iran’s Parliament Speaker

The rubber-stamp Iranian Parliament (Majlis) recently elected Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf as chancellor. The appointment, despite the mainstream Western media’s insistence to the contrary, demonstrates a stiffening of the Islamist regime’s security and military stance towards domestic and international affairs. Ghalibaf (b. 1961) used to be the commander of the IRGC Air Force, the commander-in-chief of the Police Force, and the mayor of Tehran. He is currently a member of the Expediency Council that is tasked with taking the most important decisions concerning the security interests of the Iranian regime. During his tenure in any one of the institutions mentioned above, Ghalibaf committed widespread violations of human rights.

Netanyahu‘s Transformation of Israeli Policy towards Iran

During those years, I raised this issue several times in American, Arabic, Israeli and Persian media. I said that while I understand Israel’s need to respond to the threats of the Islamist regime, I believe Israel should speak to the Iranian people and tell them that the bitterness and hatred stirred by the Islamist regime, between Iran and Israel, has nothing to do with the people of Iran. It should be communicated that Israel is a friend of the Iranian people, just as the Iranian people are generally friends with Israel.
