During the first unofficial debate in the Conservative Party leadership, attended by all the qualified candidates except Patrick Brown, the gloves came off and Canadians finally got to see a passionate political exchange.
Leslyn Lewis of last night was completely different from Lesyln Lewis of the 2020 race as she came out swinging, throwing punches at everyone else on the stage. Roman Baber showed some flair while Scott Aitchison played the part of holier than thou moderate, but the main event of the night was the back and forth between Pierre Poilievre and Jean Charest.
Since Poilievre has been seen as the front runner, Charest has focused a lot of attacks on him over the last month. He continued it on the debate stage, but when he went after the freedom convoy as “illegal blockades” he was booed by the crowd. Poilievre came back at Charest over his record as a Red Tory and the corruption scandals in his cabinet as the Leader of the Liberal Party of Quebec.
Someone dial 911 because Pierre Poilievre just killed Jean Charest's career in front of the entire country.pic.twitter.com/DK0bLy3MBK

The attacks on Charest as a “Liberal” can be refuted by those with good knowledge of Canadian/Quebec politics. Yes, the party was called the “Liberals” but it was the furthest to the right federalist party in Quebec at the time.
This is why Poilievre’s real score on Charest was his record working for Huawei, a company deeply connected to the Chinese Communist Party. Charest took a paycheck from Huawei at the same time that the CCP took the two Micheals hostage. This was what Poilievre went after him for by simply asking how much he got paid while making a scene of him trying to dodge the question.

Huawei is very clearly connected to the CCP, and that is a real deal-breaker for a lot of CPC members. Huawei is so toxic a brand that even Jean Charest’s campaign has promised to ban it from our 5G network. Banning Huawei is a very reasonable policy considering the CCP’s tendency for corporate and government espionage.
What is hard to explain is why would you take a paycheck from Huawei if you believe that they are so dangerous?
The fact Charest has not been able to answer why he chose to work for Huawei knowing about their deep ties with the Communist Chinese government, and how much he was paid to do it, is a prime example of why so many CPC members don’t trust him and instead are gravitating to leadership options like Pierre Poilieve and Leslyn Lewis.

It is very obvious even the CBC media coverage was focused on making Pierre poilievre the guy that was being divisive with Charest. When in reality The news was covering up more scandles. Charest was a Liberal MP for Quebec and he did take money from Huawei. SO HOW MUCH MONEY DID YOU TAKE CHAREST. PIERRE FOR PM
I would rather have Charest any any day that the seat warmer Pierre Pollieve who sucks off the taxpayers
Think you have the names in wrong order.
Lynn you are out of your mind
