CNN is Tanking in the Ratings Without Donald Trump

CNN was riding high during the presidency of Donald Trump, and many at the time had predicted that he was the only subject keeping their viewership ratings up, and since the end of Trump’s presidency, the CNN ratings have plummeted to be a mere fraction of what they used to be.

Media critic from The Hill, Joe Concha noted that currently in May on some days CNN is sometimes only receiving one-third of the viewership it used to have on a given day during prime time.

Fox News despite slumping in January 2021, and losing viewership to new conservative stations like Newsmax and One America News still averaged 1.3 million viewers in March across all time slots, and currently, in May Fox primetime shows like Tucker Carlson Tonight, Hannity, and The Five, all rank close to or higher than 2 million viewers.

Even smaller Fox News hosts like Greg Gutfeld who hosts a show at 11 pm EST, right after the end of primetime, is beating all the CNN primetime shows on some days.

Although Fox News benefited from a bump in ratings from Trump’s presidency and especially the 2020 election, left-wing legacy media like MSNBC, and especially CNN failed to adapt or provide compelling content on subjects other than hysterical coverage of every move Trump made.

Now that Trump is not in office CNN has literally replaced much of their Trump coverage by attempting to make Fox News and Tucker Carlson their new Trump to fearmonger about. It is a news station that now heavily relies on its own competition for content.

This strategy deepened yesterday when CNN changed the name of the show hosted by blatant Democrat activist Don Lemon, who is supposedly an objective journalist, from “CNN Tonight” to “Don Lemon Tonight” a name that emulates Fox’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight” as if CNN constantly talking about Fox was not enough.

CNN’s media critic Brian Stelter from the show “Reliable Sources” was recently lampooned by the conservative publication The Federalist in an article titled, “Would An Actual Potato Be Better At Hosting ‘Reliable Sources’ Than Brian Stelter?” which made fun of Stelter’s extremely lazy and shallow research into the subject matter he reports on, with the article concluding at one point that, “Journalists have an obligation, to tell the truth, and while a potato might not be able to “tell” anything, at least it wouldn’t lie”.

Compounding CNN’s problems with ratings is the conservative investigative group Project Veritas who has now repeatedly exposed the network for being left-wing behind the scenes. Project Veritas was recently removed by Twitter for showing their hidden camera footage of a high-ranking CNN content manager, Charlie Chester, admitting to CNN being anti-Trump, and trying to scare people with COVID-19 coverage to help Joe Biden win the presidential election.

So not only is CNN unable to now manufacture compelling television without Donald Trump in the White House, but now due to their biases being exposed by real investigative journalists, the list of reasons not to tune back into CNN is mounting and viewers are looking to get their news from elsewhere if not already fully disillusioned with the legacy media.
