The WHO Director-General is a Communist

With all the recent news coming out about the World Health Organization (WHO) praising Communist China’s response to the COVID19 pandemic, and having its officials refuse to acknowledge Taiwan (aka. The Republic of China) as a country in interviews, it should be no surprise that the Director-General of the WHO is himself a revolutionary communist.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus became the Director-General of the WHO back in 2017 after heavy lobbying from Beijing, despite not having a background as a medical doctor or an equivalent to global health management skills. Like many who rise in the ranks in China, Tedros was valued for his ideological purity and dedication to the communist system.

Back in his home country of Ethiopia Tedros is an executive member of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), a Chinese backed Marxist-Leninist revolutionary political party that came to power back in 1991 after overthrowing a Soviet-backed Ethiopian socialist government.

Due to China’s heavy influence over Ethiopia allowed by the TPLF, the country has become known as East Africa’s “Little China” and has been used as China’s gateway into buying political influence in the continent. 

It should be noted that the Global Terrorism Database has listed TPLF as being responsible for 12 separate terrorist attacks, two of which were perpetrated in 2016 and 2018. 

Since taking office as Director-General in July of 2017, Tedros has been predictably pro-communist, especially towards the Chinese Communist Party.

In October of 2017, Tedros was pressured to resign from his position after the WHO decided to make the then-dictator of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe, goodwill ambassador for communicable diseases in Africa. Tedros later rescinded the elderly dictator’s appointment, but many of his critics still demanded his resignation for having chosen such a brutal human rights abuser for the ambassadorship in the first place.

Tedros was quoted by The Daily Mail, when he first chose Mugabe, as saying, “I am honoured to be joined by President Mugabe, of Zimbabwe, a country that places universal health coverage and health promotion at the centre of its policies to provide healthcare to all.” 

The WHO’s favourable treatment of communist China during COVID-19 under Tedros’ leadership falls into a predictable pattern when it is known that Robert Mugabe identified as a Marxist-Leninist and ethno-nationalist. 

Tedros’ ill-advised decisions that have benefited the communist Chinese government should be heavily scrutinized, even if it is detrimental to the WHO’s mission of promoting access to quality healthcare around the globe. 

For example, in September of 2018, the WHO endorsed the use of Chinese Traditional Medicine (CTM), despite the ineffective and sometimes harmful effects it causes. CTM is also well known as a threat to endangered species, which are often harvested for CTM ingredients. It was suspected that the WHO endorsed the practice to boost the “US $50-billion global market” CTM market, which China controls a massive portion of.

Recently, Tedros assisted the Chinese government in covering up their gross mismanagement of the COVID-19 pandemic, despite months of blockading of information to the outside world about the situation in Wuhan and the nature of the virus.

Tedros said on January 29 that, “[China’s] actions helped prevent the spread of coronavirus to other countries,” and that he was “very impressed and encouraged by the president’s detailed knowledge of the outbreak.”

In reality, China’s Communist Party has been covering up the spread of COVID-19 since November when the first cases popped up. At the time, when Tedros made those statements in Wuhan, the whistleblower Dr. Li had already exposed the coverup and warned about the lack of containment.

The WHO has failed to hold China accountable for seemingly underreporting its infections and deaths. Reports from on the ground in the city of Wuhan and the Hubei province where estimates based on cremation urns pin the deaths to more than ten times higher than the Chinese communist government has reported, but the WHO has not launched an investigation.

The $20 million donation China made to the WHO to fight COVID-19 seems to take on a different connotation when the organization’s history under Tedros is brought into context.

There is no doubt that Tedros’ as the Director-General, has had a massive influence on the priorities and tolerance of communist ideology within the WHO. 

Whether the WHO organization is willfully promoting Chinese disinformation or is simply too incompetent to oppose it, Tedros is in charge and will naturally be targeted by the WHO’s critics for the highly partisan response the international institution has had.
