A spokesperson for Quebec Liberal party leader Dominique Anglade has confirmed that the leader has asked for Liberal Member of the National Assembly Pierre Arcand to return to Canada from Barbados. MNA Arcand had made the controversial decision to travel abroad for the reasons for taking a vacation with his wife, despite criticisms from his own party, rival parties, and the media.
Liberal MNA Arcand now says he regrets the decision to travel during the apparently worsening Coronavirus outbreak in Quebec, and he has agreed to return home to Canada in all haste.
Arcand recently held the position of intern-leader of the Quebec Liberal party, so to a certain degree, his decision to travel out-of-country has reflected badly on the Quebec Liberal party, at a time when Canadians are particularly sensitive to politicians who seem out of step with the public when it comes to burdening the affects of the lockdowns.
The Arcand scandal also comes hot on the heels of the Rod Phillips scandal; Finance Minister for the Ontario PC Party, who also travelled to the Caribbean during the apparently serious COVID-19 ‘second wave’ in Ontario.

We say ‘apparently serious,’ because what are average Canadian citizens supposed to believe when we are receiving frequent reports of politicians travelling abroad? The logical assumption would be that the pandemic isn’t as severe as we’re being told, if the politicians telling us to ‘be afraid; be very afraid,’ don’t care at all. This idea is highlighted by the fact these ministers Phillips and Arcand are from Ontario and Quebec; apparently the two hardest hit by the ‘pandemic,’ although to be fair the Quebec Liberals are not the current governing party, whereas the Ontario PC’s are currently in office.
Earlier today on Dec. 31st Ontario PC Finance Minister Phillips submitted his resignation over his embarrassing decision to travel, so we should expect to see a similar resignation from Arcand if we are supposed to take anything the Quebec Liberal party says seriously ever again.
