Petition Launched To Scrap Critical Race Theory And Gender Theory In Ontario Schools

After passing second reading, NDP MPP Laura Mae Lindo’s Bill 67 the “Racial Equity in the Education System Act,” better described as the bill that mandates Critical Race Theory in the classroom rightfully disturbed many Ontario parents not too keen on their children being taught “woke” politics in school.

Bill 67 has now been referred to committee where it will be further studied for possible amendments and or additions ahead of a final vote in the Ontario legislature.

This large step towards the political radicalization of children’s education was a step too far for Hamilton resident, and mother, Catherine Kronas who is now seeking to pressure the Ontario government to defeat Bill 67 during its final vote and scrap other toxic parts of the public school curriculum.

Kronas on materials of the curriculum she deeply disagrees with, described the situation stating:

I was alarmed in March 2021 when the HWDSB released the Learn Disrupt Rebuild program, a politically biased social justice program rooted in Critical Social Justice, including Critical Race Theory and Gender Identity Theory. Lesson draft #19 Understanding Racism claims “Racism is ordinary, the “normal” way that society does business” and that “Racism serves the interests of both white people in power (the elites) materially and working-class white people psychically, and therefore neither group has much incentive to fight it.”  Lessons on anti-racism are founded in the highly contested theories of Ibram X Kendi who advocates for discrimination to ameliorate disparate outcomes among groups.

Kronas has started a petition demanding that Bill 67 be voted down, the radical sex-ed and gender theory curriculum the PC government failed to dismantle be finally scrapped, and for merit and equality of opportunity to be valued in the education system instead of equity (ie. equality of outcome).

The petition, specifically regarding Bill 67, reads:

The critical social justice movement that has its underpinnings in the Critical Race Theory that makes up Bill 67, advocates for a form of collectivism that seeks to establish a new system of group-based rights by segregating people into categories of “oppressor” and “oppressed” based on their immutable “intersectional” characteristics (i.e. race, gender, religion, sexual orientation).

This petition is hosted on the website StopWoke.ca and has already garnered thousands of signatures in just over 24 hours.

New Blue Party of Ontario MPP Belinda Karahalios, who is the only MPP who voted against Bill 67, is backing this petition and will be reading the petition into the record in the Ontario legislature, requiring a response by the Ontario government.

Both Kronas and Karahalios have been taking aim at all of the leftist politics in or attempting to be added in, the public school curriculum as “wokeism” which promotes bigotry and the confusion of children, under the guise that it fights both of those things.

In effect, the petition is designed in large part to simply raise awareness of the radical legislation being passed affecting Ontario kids. Often the Ontario PC Party will go along with passing legislation like Bill 67 until the New Blue Party raises awareness of the issue.

This happened with Bill 12 was sought to mandate education and healthcare workers to get vaccinated; The Ontario PC MPPs backed the bill until MPP Karahalios and the New Blue Party organized Ontarians to contact their MPPs which pressured the PCs to back off.

StopWoke.ca is yet another grassroots movement for the silent majority of parents to push back on the increasingly left-leaning Ontario legislature that consistently fails to represent them, and hopefully, like with Bill 12, Catherine Kronas, and Belinda Karahalios will be successful in warding off the radical legislation.

Any Ontarian opposed to radical gender theory and CRT being taught in the classroom should seriously consider signing the petition linked below and raising awareness about what the PC, Liberals, and NDP are trying to teach children.
