Radical Social Activists And Legacy Media Attack Brian Jean For Protecting Women’s Sports

In a move that demonstrates how radical the legacy media has become in Canada, CTV News and woke social activists attacked UCP leadership candidate Brian Jean for saying that biological men and women should compete in separate sports leagues to safeguard competitiveness.

The former Wildrose Party leader, UCP co-founder, and current MLA for Fort McMurray-Lac La Biche declared in a campaign email on September 2 that:

If you are a conservative in public life you should always pick the common sense answer that protects the most people, even if you will be criticized by some very vocal people:

There should be two categories in sport: One for biological men, and one for biological women. Going through puberty as a male makes changes to your body that are permanent and cannot be denied.

After that line in the email, Brian Jean then reiterates that this perspective is absolutely common sense and mainstream, and explains that he is having to make his position on this issue known because fellow UCP leadership candidate Danielle Smith disagrees with the notion that women’s sports should only ever be for women.

(It should be noted that Todd Loewen also said women’s sports should only be for biological women at the APP/Rebel debate)

Sadly, because we live in an era where the legacy media is occupied by social leftists seeking to redefine reality, CTV News journalist Jessica Robb put out a story titled, “Trans, non-binary community alarmed by Brian Jean email challenging gender identity in sport” which attempts to frame Jean’s uncontroversial views as fringe.

Robb makes the attempt to cast the issue of biological men competing in women’s sports as being about denying people’s “identity,” or even their “existence” being denied, and not about competitiveness.

At one point, transgender activist Anne Murphy is quoted as saying:

Imagine that you are getting an email that your identity, that your existence is invalid, what Brian Jean is doing is dehumanizing and completely coming at this from the base of complete intolerance and ignorance, it is hurtful.

Robb later quotes April Friesen the president of the Trans Equality Society of Alberta who makes the ludicrous claim that Brian Jean “doesn’t understand the science” in such a way that you would think Friesen is talking about a pal named ‘Science’ who doesn’t like Jean.

Friesen specifically said that:

[Brian Jean’s] not having real empathy here for the people who are affected by it, and he’s showing that he doesn’t understand the science because the science is not with him on what he is saying…He’s engaged in all this disinformation and arming all these people with all this stuff that isn’t true, and they’re now going out into the world and acting on it.

Of course, April Friesen, nor anyone else Robb cites in her article, actually explains how biological men are not obviously advantaged over women in sports, despite the plethora of evidence showing how biological males ruin competitiveness in women’s sports.

The CTV News article relies on attempting to make the reader believe Jean is out of step with the majority and feel bad if they agree with his perspective. Edmonton Highlands-Norwood MLA Janice Irwin also used this tactic on Twitter by saying that the views Brian Jean and Todd Loewen hold are “unacceptable” and somehow “transphobic,” as if it was a fact and not just Irwin’s far-left opinion.

In reality, no matter how much CTV News and left-wing social activists try and pretend that Brian Jean is somehow being controversial on this issue, 70 percent of Canadians and 72 percent of Americans believe it is unfair for men to compete in women’s sports.

Jean is well within the majority opinion on this issue, and in line with any rational reading of scientific studies on the difference between men and women when it comes to sports.

It actually seems like the legacy media and transgender activists are attacking Brian Jean on this issue because they are insecure about their own position. They know they are advocating for the ruination of women’s sports and are lashing out against a conservative politician to try and reassure themselves they are on the side of justice.

Like with many other things, the woke left-wing activists are decidedly on the wrong side of history.
