Trudeau’s Police Are Going After The Iconic Cafe, A Small Business That Served Truckers

Written By Wyatt Claypool, Posted on February 20, 2022

The owners of the Iconic Cafe, Enrico and Deborah Kuhn, near Parliament in Ottawa are being harassed by police and threatened with arrest for staying open while the Freedom Convoy was in the city.

This is a clear example of the federal and Ottawa municipal governments being vindictive of anyone even supportive of the truckers.

Businesses that remained open like the Iconic Cafe made the government and legacy media look unhinged by proving the truckers and convoy supporters were peaceful and good for small businesses in Ottawa.

The truckers were not only not a nuisance to the Iconic Cafe, but according to the owners, the wives of truckers were even helping clean their bathrooms and mopping floors to provide services to them for remaining open for the convoy.

The police are even trying to illegally enter the Iconic Cafe to arrest the couple without a warrant or justification for the arrest. The owners believe they may also be facing harassment from the police because they witnessed and called out an instance of police brutality on Sunday morning.

The National Telegraph correspondent Daniel Bordman is currently inside the cafe documenting what happens, along with other citizen journalists.

Since Bordman put out his original tweet bringing attention to the police’s aggressive actions against the Iconic Cafe owners the officers have dispersed and seemingly left the owners alone for now.

This is all indicative of a government that sees civil liberties as a threat to its power. Not only can you not protest peacefully against the government’s ridiculous COVID-19 policies without facing potential arrest, but you cannot even keep your cafe open if it is deemed to be too close to the protest.

The National Telegraph will provide updates going forward on what happens to the Iconic Cafe and its owners.

UPDATE:

The Kuhn family was able to get home safely Sunday night.

According to Enrico after they had denied entry to the police the first time, they came back in bylaw uniforms and demanded entry for a surprise inspection of the cafe despite bylaw not working on weekends.

  2. Susan says:

Thank you for reporting on this!

  3. Lolo says:

What has happened to our country? God bless these cafe owners

  4. Will says:

So they were aiding and abetting criminals. They are in an area that has been closed to ensure the safety of the public. Go cry your crocodile tears elsewhere

    • Taya says:

They have to be changed with something to be criminals, which btw is the right of all people to have a fair trail . Also is the right for the people to stand up and protest to our government which also would never dare come to our parts of Canada. So therefore they came to him . If he was in a different province they would have went there so nothing to do with you guys . Maybe if the ones that complained should have complained to the pm of why he wouldn’t simply listen to what hard working Canadians had to say even if he didn’t agree with them just to simply listen means that you are more then what he told everyone they were . He is a child running Canada 🇨🇦 people need to realize this would have been easy fix but instead he rather not see the real problems that he has created.

They gave food to people who paid for it. It’s called a business for a reason. Go be intolerant of peace and freedom elsewhere.

  5. Not Will says:

Will, there were no requirements for businesses to close. If you lived outside of the red zone you are allowed to enter if

    1) you worked there
    2) you lived there

  6. Tracey Boutilier says:

The last I heard this was a FREE COUNTRY. If I want to donate to the truckers, I WILL DONATE!!! This Government is being pretty damn petty and Trudeau really needs to go back to drama school and teach drama and leave the position of Prime Minister to the grownups!!! Just like a spoiled little BRAT who had his toy taken away by some other kid. He (TRUDEAU) is the laughing stock of Canada and it makes me embarrassed to admit I am Canadian!!!!

  7. Good Citizen says:

Imagine being so hateful of truckers and freedom protesters that you sue them, steal their vehicles to resell, trample them with horses, arrest them, freeze their bank accounts, break into their property, intimidate them, fence them out of the freedom monument and the peace tower – then complaint about how they’re being "harassed" and afraid to leave their homes. The cult left are so intolerant now that the very existent of dissent is torture to them. Left extremism is a worldwide problem and we need a worldwide plan of action to stop this.

Good for them ! Need more people like this and less sheep .

    What? I thought Canada was a democracy…

  11. Andre Nickell says:

This story is very murky and seemingly one-side.

  12. Prairie Boy says:

Trudeau’s goon squad will be back, you can count on it. It’s shameful how Trudeau and his lackeys have lied to us and abused the authority that we gave to them. They’ve turned our once beautiful country into a evil communist regime.

  13. Gdog says:

This is just the beginning people, better get off your couches or one day you may find yourself on the wrong side of the "law" because of something near and dear to your heart!!

  14. NANCY SULLIVAN says:

They came back in other uniforms? LANDSHARK! CANDYGRAM!

  15. mike says:

We have long given our leaders and police too much power with no checks and secrecy. Strange how the left doesn’t like swastikas while they do the goose-step.
You could lose your right to parent if you told your ten-year-old boy to take the dress of…

  16. Marty says:

Of course Trudeau wants to keep jabbing people, he has shares in the company that owns the mRNA patents. How this conflict of interest doesn’t come under closer scrutiny is mystifying!

  17. Claire says:

I love your faith in the one true God, my friend. He is our maker, provider, our peace.

  18. Patrick says:

Uh huh. They were a restaurant that flouted health regulations and the law. It was and is a person’s right to flout the law, but a person of conscience would be mature enough to accept the consequences.

They have since closed, nd now are whining for money. But they didn’t give a rat’s ass about the millions of dollars in revenue lost to the other Ottawa businesses

And contrary to the delusional liespinner of this article, the Prime Minister elected by the majority of Canadians, who agreed with the COVID restrictions and acted as good citizens, did not personally order or direct the police in this matter.

Oh…Marty…back up your claim, or leave yourself open to charges of slander and libel

Get an education you whiny addlewitted snowflakes.

  19. Joe thorn says:

    @partick
There was zero restrictions to be open for restaurants. Only business close to the convoy were asked to close. I walked 30mins from parliament hill and every restaurant was allowed to be open.

They did not close down, they were evicted for not closing down. You see the lack of logic you’ve displayed?

Your lack of knowledge over whom the majority of Canadians voted for is pathetic. How does a government in minority Garner majority vote? They don’t. In fact Trudeau lost the popular vote to both sheer and o’tool. Your not very smart are you my child.

Now you want Marty to back up a claim while your own statement is riddled in unfactual information?

Who’s the snowflake now?? You’re out here complaining about a bunch of fact you couldn’t have gotten more wrong.
