Ex-Liberal MP Calls Out Liberals’ Tolerating CCP And Islamic Republic “puppet candidates” In Our Elections

On December 6th, 2022, Independent MP Kevin Vuong put forth a scathing criticism of the Liberal government on the issue of foreign interference. After receiving the customary concern-sounding word salad, Vuong pushed for an answer asking if the Liberal government would continue to be a permanent doormat for the Iranian and Chinese governments.

On the surface, this may seem like a story of an excommunicated Liberal “dunking” on his former party, but there are actually very serious concerns of foreign meddling that constitute a great threat to Canadian citizens.

There have been three major stories that have not gotten much traction in the mainstream Canadian media. The existence of CCP-controlled police stations in Canada, the potential interference in Canadian elections (involving foreign dark money), and the fact that CSIS is investigating “credible” threats against Iranian Canadians from the IRGC. All of these stories individually are massive scandals, and the story they tell when combined paint a very worrying picture for Canadians. 

Back in 2012, the Harper government closed the Iranian embassy and expelled diplomats from Canada due to the fact that the embassy was being used as a hub for money laundering and intimidating Iranian Canadian citizens. Conversely, the lynchpin of Justin Trudeau’s foreign policy program that he ran on in 2015 was to reopen the Islamic Republic of Iran’s embassy. Not to mention his infamous praise of the Chinese government for their “basic dictatorship”.

Seven years later we now have the seeds planted by Trudeau’s musing being harvested by hostile foreign actors. Vuong brought up the potential for “puppet candidates” under the Liberal party, an observation that should carry a lot of weight coming from someone who used to be inside Justin Trudeau’s party. We already have reports of eleven separate MP candidates in the 2019 election that received hundreds of thousands of dollars of in-kind contributions from CCP actors because they were favourable towards China, or because they were attempting to unseat an anti-China MP.

There already are massive problems endemic to all Canadian political parties in terms of the legitimacy of their nomination proceedings. If a foreign government or agency were able to funnel money into the Canadian political system in order to influence the composition of our political class the consequences could be disastrous.

It is possible that the existence of “puppet candidates” has played a part in the fact that the Liberals are dragging their feet on their promise to designate the IRGC a Foreign Terrorist organization, or the entire cabinet refusing to condemn the CCP’s treatment of the Uyghur people as an ongoing genocide. 

Any way you look at it, the Liberal government’s lackadaisical response to these serious problems compounded with the political corruption of the RCMP does not bode well for public confidence in the government’s ability to handle these serious issues.
