What Is A Woman? The Question That Destroys Gender Theory

Written By Daniel Bordman, Posted on June 2, 2022

If a time traveler from 2010 came to June 2022 and watched the Daily Wire’s newest movie, What Is A Woman, they would undoubtedly conclude that it was a mockumentary and an absurd one at that. Yet, in the modern-day, it may be the most important documentary of the decade.

The film stars Matt Walsh, a daily show host at the Daily Wire as he goes on a quest to find out if anyone who adheres to gender theory can give a non-circular definition to the question “what is a woman?” The most often answer he gets is “a woman is someone who identifies as a woman,” to which Walsh will ask “what is that?”

But the film is not really about the question, it’s about the people who are incapable of answering it and the ideology behind their relativistic worldview.

The film has its very funny moments and its incredibly disturbing ones. Sometimes they are the same. The key takeaway from the film is that gender theory is so flimsy it can be knocked over with just one simple question. The only thing that holds it up is the threat of a far-Left mob coming to destroy your life if you dissent from any of gender thoery’s central tenets.

The film is so important because it does a great job dismantling all of the common tactics of gender theory proponents. The most common way that transgenderism is forced on to children, or more specifically the parents of those children, is through the threat of suicide. The common tactic to shutdown anyone critical of things like rapid-onset gender dysphoria is to claim that any criticism will lead to suicide, essentially making the claim that refusing to enable dysphoria is equivalent to murder. This synergizes well with those who have an agenda to curb free speech by declaring that words can be violent.

An important point in the film is that it highlights a very important fact: chances of suicide actually increase 5-7 years after surgery for transgender people. The opposite of what gender theory pushes.

Walsh talks to a woman (Scott Newgent) who had previously identified as a trans-man who is having serious health problems due to the experimental surgeries and large doses of hormones she received to become trans. She gets quite graphic while soberly describing how the damage to her body from attempting to live as a man has likely set her on a path to an early grave – it’s a powerful moment.

(Below is one moment from Walsh’s interview with Mrs. Newgent)

Another powerful interview is with a Canadian father who was put through the ringer of the Canadian court system for misgendering his daughter and objecting to her childhood transition. He even faced jail time.

The film is an absolute must-see, especially for those in Canada where it is within the realm of possibility that the movie could be made illegal under the Trudeau government.

Yes, the Daily Wire is a business and they put money into making the film and deserve to profit from it, but I really hope they make it free after a brief period behind their paywall. They could seriously curb the spread of child abuse.

Many parents consent to this nonsense for their children because the facts are hidden from them and they legitimately think that they are doing the right thing. Releasing the film to the public may be be able to save many children from a terrible fate.
