Black Lives Matter & Critical Race Theory formally part of School Curriculum?

St. Lucy Catholic Elementary School in Brampton, Ontario, Canada has been teaching young children critical race theory to its student body in this year’s curriculum. This is the controversial political race based curriculum viewed by some as extremist political propaganda and as such has recently been banned from public institutions in the United States by Presidential executive order.   

Images obtained exclusively by The National Telegraph shows classroom material from St. Lucy Catholic School being distributed as part of regular curriculum and has caused concern from parents of children attending the school. Critical race theory is the philosophical underpinning of extremist groups like Black Lives Matter and other violent activist groups that have been repeatedly linked to Marxist activism. This was previously reported on by The National Telegraph earlier this year.  

The material consists of many unsubstantiated assertions, disinformation and teaches children to view their peers not as individuals but as part of collective groups based on their races almost exclusively.  Intellectuals like Jordan Peterson, Gad Saad, Stephen Hicks and other prominent academics have described this kind of racialized worldview as pseudo-religious dogma with routes in cultural Marxism and have warned about such material getting into the minds of young children. 

For example the Black Lived Matter material claims without evidence that the actions of Police officer Derek Chauvin had killed George Floyd, and leaves out all context of the many contradictory evidence that has been presented to the court in Minneapolis.  This hyper politicized narrative omits that in the ongoing investigation that according to court documents George Floyd was struggling to breath after ingesting high levels of illegal narcotics and increasingly a drug overdose seems the likely cause of death.  

This educational material often asserts guilt or malice onto systems or individuals based on inalienable traits such as skin colour. This in the opinion of some experts like Jordan Peterson is the origins of divisive and some say racists terms like White Privilege. 

The Black Lives Matter material goes on to imply that all police are racist, and blacks in the United States, a foreign country to Canadians, are disproportionately killed by police, in reference only to population, which is statistically inaccurate when adjusted for US government crime statistics. It ignores the reality that police shootings occur more frequently where officers confront armed or violent resisting suspect. Despite what idenitarian racial activists groups believe, the data does not support their repeated assertions and demonization of police officers. 

In another example the teaching material goes on to count Micheal Brown as being a black man “killed” by police despite President Obama’s Department of Justice through careful examination of the evidence and witness testimony found that officer Darren Wilson shot Brown in self defence, debunking the viral propaganda campaign  “hands up, don’t shoot” narrative from 2014. 

The heavily bias material does to represent a diminished opposing view and references Attorney General William Barr saying Black Lives Matter and affiliated activist group ANTIFA rioters were taking part in “urban guerrilla warfare.”  Despite this statement from the US state department the material only reference Black Lives Matter as a peaceful protest movement and ignores much of the controversy and violence caused by the organization. 

The Black Lives Matter material currently taught at St. Lucy’s Catholic School in Brampton, Ontario concludes with a highly politicized quote from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s quote stating that, “There is systemic racism in Canada.” 

The National Telegraph has repeatedly sent request for comment to St. Lucy’s Catholic School seeking an explanation for this material and to ask if this material is being distributed from the Ministry of Education or is St. Lucy’s staff incorporating this material on their own accord.  The National Telegraph has yet to receive a response from St. Lucy’s.  

The National Telegraph has also attempted to solicit comment and clarification on the Black Live Matter curriculum material from the  The Dufferin-Peel Catholic School Board and it’s trustees. Our repeated attempts to contact them have been ignored. 

Irrespective of ones views the Black Lives Matter movement and political instability in The United States, a foreign nation, this is the latest example of the politicization of our institutions.  More concerning, this seems to be a concerted effort to politicize children in our education system.  Perhaps this is another element fuelling the growing political radicalization of young people in our society.
