Tamara Lich Arrested In Medicine Hat, Supposedly For “Breaking Bail Conditions”

Freedom Convoy 2022 organizer, as well as one of the main leaders of the protest movement, Tamara Lich was arrested in Medicine Hat this evening reportedly due to her supposedly “breaking” bail conditions.

The conditions were placed on her after being charged with “committing” the extremely low-level crimes of mischief and counseling to commit mischief.

Lich has been banned from operating social media accounts, publicly opposing public health mandates, and or “verbally, in writing, financially, or by any other means, support anything related to the Freedom Convoy.”

In Andrew Lawton’s reporting on Lich’s arrest, on True North’s website, he noted that the Crown had previously tried to argue that Lich going to and speaking at, an event to accept the Geroge Jonas Freedom award violated her bail, but the judge overseeing the case rejected their legal reasoning. 

It is not known exactly what part of Lich’s bail she may have broken in the eyes of the Crown, but one of the best assumptions at this point is that Lich was arrested for having attended an event and planning to attend future events, at the Whistle Stop Cafe. 

This may be because Chris Scott, the owner of the Whistle Stop Cafe, used his social media platform to campaign against lockdowns and mandates, as well as support the Freedom Convoy 2022, and the Crown wants to argue that Lich associating with him is a violation of her bail.

Andrew Lawton provided an update from the RCMP who said they would hold Tamara Lich in prison where she is for six days before transporting her to Ottawa.

On June 28 the Medicine Hat RCMP confirmed that the arrest had been taken place and that although they can hold Tamara Lich for six days before transporting her to Ottawa on June 29.
