Leslyn Lewis Plans To Stop Digital ID And WEF Influence In Canada

In an email put out to Conservative Party members Haldimand—Norfolk MP and leadership candidate Dr. Leslyn Lewis gave a detailed explanation for her opposition to Digital ID as well as the World Economic Forum (WEF) which promotes Digital ID and other policies that centralizes government power.

The WEF is in favour of and openly promotes the use of Digital ID, ESG scores, and Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), among many other policies that centralize power to the federal government. 

Dr. Lewis explains the current environment around Digital ID and the WEF stating that:

The fact is, that there is no conspiracy. There is no need for one. The WEF is a collection of politicians and powerful businesspeople who are very open and public about their plans to usher in a Green Industrial Revolution and unite behind their singular views of how societies around the world should operate.  

Canada is the first country along with the Netherlands to sign on to the WEF’s pilot project to introduce a Known Traveller Digital Identity (KTDI). Other partners include Air Canada, Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport in Montreal, and Toronto’s Pearson Airport.

Dr. Lewis then goes on to explain that it does not matter what benefits Digital ID could potentially bring because of the fact that Digital ID policy would inevitably open the door to having a social credit score system and violate Canadians’ right to privacy.

Dr. Lewis explains:

The idea that world travellers can increase “global” trust as they travel around the world and check in and out of hotels etc. might sound like a good idea, however, building up trust points through your activity is literally a credit score. Folks who wanted to pretend that this is anything other than a social credit system need to bend over backwards to pretend they don’t understand how credit scores work.

Dr. Lewis then goes on to take issue with labeling travelers as “acceptable” or “safe” outside of a legal context and notes that the WEF “has suggested that this could be expanded to include one’s digital currency, banking info, carbon footprint, health records, driver’s license, etc.” which would be a severe infringement on someone’s privacy and freedom of choice. 

She also notes how the slide into violations of Canadians’ civil liberties is not just a hypothetical but a very likely outcome of a Digital ID system, citing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau freezing people’s bank accounts for donating to a lawful protest organization simply opposing COVID restrictions and mandates.

At the end of her email, Dr. Lewis then promises to push back on proponents of Digital ID and those who try and promote the agenda of the WEF.

Dr. Lewis states: 

Here is my promise to you. I will take the people who want to implement the WEF agenda seriously. I will protect Canada from the influence of international entities who don’t have the best interests of Canadians in mind. As leader of the Conservative party I will push back on the use of Digital IDs both nationally and internationally.

As the only candidate with a PhD in international law, I will use my years of experience to navigate the fast-changing international landscape and continue to strengthen our relationships with our allies while standing up for Canada’s sovereignty and identity on the world stage.

It is good to see Dr. Leslyn Lewis take such a hardline position against Digital ID while also correctly identifying the WEF as the main culprit behind the promotion of policies that would undermine the privacy and personal liberty of Canadians.

In this Conservative leadership election, the only other verified candidate to condemn the ideas of the WEF has been Carlton MP Pierre Poilievre, but so far only Dr. Lewis has made firm commitments to publicly call out the bad ideas of the WEF in order to build opposition against policies like Digitial ID and a social credit system.

Hopefully, in the coming weeks and months, more CPC leadership candidates will unify against the WEF and take pro-liberty stances against such issues as Digital ID, and CBDCs.
