The New Blue Party of Ontario: A Safe Haven for Disenfranchised Voters?

Jim and Belinda Karahalios were interviewed on The Agenda with Steve Paikin where they broke down the reasons for moving from trying to change the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario (PC) from the inside to starting their own conservative party to challenge it from the outside; the New Blue Party of Ontario.

The Karahalios’ pointed to the issues within the party that even if some reforms were temporarily made, it would always fall back into taking non-conservative policy positions and enabling corruption.

In an interview with The National Telegraph (TNT) Mr. Karahalios said:

They pretended they were against Cap and Trade and internal party election fraud until they came into their majority in Ontario then they suddenly reversed themselves on all the reforms they previously claimed they were in favour of; abandoning and rejecting the voters who put them there.

Inside the PC party the Karahalios’ have been consistent overtime with their complaints about issues with how the party operates, often only playing lip service to members with the ultimate goal of doing whatever well funded lobbyists want.

Mrs Karahalios during The Agenda interview talked about her private members bill to prevent voter fraud in internal party elections, she said “I don’t know what party would be against a bill trying to stop voter fraud,” in response to the fact Doug Ford’s PC government voted against the bill.

The Karahalios’ were told one part of the interview would have to be cut out which Mr. Karahalios paraphrased for TNT.

We are grateful that Steve Paikin interviews us when most media outlets ignore any political actors who are critical of the establishment parties in Ontario and only cover individuals if it is the establishment criticizing them.

One question from the interview will not be airing.  Steve asked me why, after years of trying to work within the PC Party to influence it, I now believe that is no longer possible.

I stated that there are no longer any democratic processes in the Ontario PC Party and when there were they resulted in electoral fraud deciding the winner.

I then said “I learned that there is one way to work within the Ontario PC Party, get 2 garbage bags, the heavy duty industrial kind, fill them up with money, and call the lobbyists on Doug Ford’s advisory council, ask them for a meeting, and try to work it from the inside.  But if you want to do it the democratic way, there is no way to work within the Ontario PC Party.”

The question and answer were removed from the interview by TVO.

Mr. Karahalios told TNT about the issues they face with trying to get the general mainstream media to cover their stories about internal corruption within the PC party.

Mr. Karahalios stated:

When I allege they are corrupt, when I allege the only way to get to Doug Ford is to give the lobbyist thousands of dollars, the mainstream media won’t cover me. The media will only cover conservatives getting called racist by the left, or let on the corrupt lobbyists from the PC party who aren’t actual conservatives.

And:

Belinda got kicked out of caucus for voting against Ford’s Bill 195. The Toronto Sun ran two little stories on it, and after that writers like Brian Lilley would not name Belinda in stories and only referenced her as some nobody rogue backbencher who was just in an internal dispute and not thrown out of caucus for blatantly petty reasons.

In the interview on The Agenda the Karahalios’ of course also talked about their new political party, the New Blue Party of Ontario, which from their perspective is a political vehicle for all the ideas the PC party was supposed to represent but has failed to live up to. Social Conservatives are also welcome in the New Blue Party as the Karahalios’ see the party as something that will be led by the membership and not political thought of a few hyper-progressive Toronto elites.

The New Blue Party of Ontario has been made an official political party, the Karahalios’ gained thousands of signatures within the first week of its announcement, signalling that the new political party may be a real force to be reckoned with come the 2022 provincial election.
