Ever since Rupa Subramanya published an article on Bari Weiss’ Common Sense Substack exposing the fact that Transportation Canada never actually had anyone on their board with any science or public health expertise, and made their decision to impose travel restrictions based on purely political grounds, the media’s response has been rather odd.
Subramanya, using publicly-released court documents, showed that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberals, and Transport Minister Omar Alghabra in particular, had only pushed for travel restrictions to score political points.
The Liberals pushed for restrictions 2 days before calling the 2021 federal election, and no public health information or data was used in order to justify the travel restrictions leading up to Transport Canada’s decision to implement the restrictions. Clearly, Trudeau was politically interested in these restrictions existing as he campaigned on keeping unvaccinated Canadians from being able to board passenger trains, airlines, or other federally-regulated modes of transportation.
In response to this act of journalism that Subramanya committed, the legacy media has not covered the information she brought to light, or even attacked her for reporting it. The legacy media has remained tellingly quiet.
Been a week since my big story for Common Sense ran, analyzing court docs that show Trudeau govt's travel vaxx mandate was not grounded in science. Unusually, the Federal Court has made it easier to access the docs given the interest in the case. Do read. https://t.co/RPE33obIlV

Other than the typical far-left attacks from Press Progress, pretending to “fact-check” Subramanya’s work with extraneous details, that don’t affect the quality or accuracy of her reporting, it seems like the media understands how damaging her story is to Trudeau’s Liberals, so even deeming to attack the work would make the details more widely known.
In an interview on Dr. Jordan Peterson’s show on the Daily Wire, Rupa Subramanya said in response to Dr. Peterson asking her why the mainstream media was not talking about her article that:
Your question is a good one. Why isn’t anyone in the mainstream media picking this up? Why is it that nobody wants to talk about it?
There hasn’t even been an acknowledgment of the piece, so far. I haven’t even been trolled by any of the mainstream commentators for writing this piece. There has been literally no response. It’s silence, it’s looking the other way, they are talking about everything else under the sun. And it is extraordinary, I don’t even know what to make of it.
Dr. Peterson in response remarked “I think it turns back to something we talked about earlier. I think that the bitter pill that Canadians are being asked to swallow is so large that they are choking on it,” before going on to explain his theory that Canadians see the Liberals do so many scandalous thinks week to week that the media will not be pilloried for failing to cover one.
Peterson’s theory seems very accurate to the environment on the ground in Canada. There is such an overload of scandal that follows Trudeau and the Liberals around that most Canadians could care less if the scandal Subramanya reported on was deliberately ignored, even though it proves the government was maliciously attacking unvaccinated Canadians for political gain.
At the end of the day, Rupa Subramanya is not just rightfully reporting on a scandal over at Transport Canada, that might hurt Justin Trudeau and Omar Alghabra, she is taking on the entire political establishment by upending the “science” narrative that the left-wing political and social elite have been pushing.
This is why the media will not talk about her story at all, yet some legacy media journalists will still take potshots at Subramanya on Twitter by citing Liberal government officials saying that “science” did influence their decision to implement travel restrictions, although without providing any evidence to substantiate that claim. The legacy journalists, of course, proceed to not actually publish articles citing these empty denials of the veracity of Subramanya’s reporting.
Wooooof.
Officials that @rupasubramanya cited in her column claiming there was "no" scientific basis for COVID mandates are at committtee.
They just skewered her claims.

Rupa Subramanya deserves all the recognition she is getting for completely upending the Liberal’s narrative on the travel restrictions and mandates, it takes untouchably good quality reporting to make the political establishment this upset, without the ability to speak a word against it.
Canada needs more journalists like Subramanya, and we at The National Telegraph salute her.
