Justin Trudeau Cannot Live Without The CCP

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has signaled that although he knows how toxic the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) influence in Canadian elections is, he also cannot live without it. 

It does not matter whether or not Trudeau is involved with the CCP election interference campaign or just tolerant of it, knowing it has been a net benefit to his party. The fact he is calling for an inquiry into the issue that will not be public or allow for any input from opposition parties shows he doesn’t want to fix any problem.

In fact, Justin Trudeau over the past two weeks has been attacking Conservative politicians and journalists for asking questions about CCP connections Liberal MPs like Han Dong seem to have, and the Trudeau foundation taking in hundreds of thousands of dollars from Beijing-friendly actors. 

So while Trudeau is calling for an opaque investigation because he knows the issue of CCP election interference is serious, he is also accusing his critics of “disinformation;” it has all been quite wacky. It goes to show Trudeau is either a very confident liar or cannot keep his narrative straight. 

It is even rumoured that Trudeau and his cabinet are willing to prorogue Parliament to create a stop-gap to try and get passed the current CCP scandal. 

From a vulgar partisan perspective, if you are an executive within the Liberal Party of Canada, it actually makes sense to pretend to take the issue of CCP interference seriously while only allowing an untransparent and ham-handed inquiry to take place.

The Liberal Party is not polling well right now and if CCP actors in Canada are potentially giving millions of dollars worth of help to elect Liberal politicians, then why would the Liberals want to crack down hard on that activity? 

The National Telegraph has been contacted by a few Liberal Party insiders who have said that although the party’s public polling has been poor to mediocre, their internal polling is even worse and the party is in no state to head into an election. It is also unlikely the NDP will put pressure on Trudeau to pursue a real investigation of CCP activity as NDP leader Jagmeet Singh has absolutely bankrupted that party and made him completely unable to threaten an election if Trudeau does not bend to him.

Again, thinking from the perspective of Justin Trudeau, having CSIS or the RCMP come down hard on CCP actors trying to interfere in Canadian elections could end up ruining his chances of staying prime minister after the next election. 

This is what makes it extremely unlikely we are going to find out anything substantial about the breadth and depth of the CCP’s influence in Canada. The Liberals have no incentive to launch a substantial and public investigation, and the NDP under Sing hs too broke and too politically cowardly to force the Liberals to do anything.

At the very least the Conservative Party can continue pointing to Trudeau’s squirming on the issue to demonstrate how broken the country is becoming under Trudeau. Trudeau goes after Canadian citizens peacefully protesting in Ottawa harder than he goes after Chinese Communist influencers trying to steal away Canada’s democracy. 

It is a sad state of affairs.
