Politicians Might Get Yelled At Less If They Stop Ruining People’s Lives

There has been a lot of hoopla online after an angry man followed Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland into a hospital and screamed at her about her being in Alberta, while she boarded an elevator.

Although sometimes it can be emotionally satisfying to see someone really unload on an incompetent Liberal politician, it doesn’t actually do anything but gives the legacy media an excuse to cast Freeland as a victim, and ignore real issues. 

On top of that, on a personal level, I think people’s ability to think degrades the more they engage in vulgar rhetoric, and fall into the trap of thinking the more angry people are the more momentum there is behind the change, rather than engaging in more information-based activism. 

At the same time, politicians have to stop ruining people’s lives and gaslighting them about it while they do it. 

You almost cannot blame people for breaking out into an outburst of rage when a politician like Chrystia Freeland is trying to stop Canadian farmers from using the amount of fertilizer they need to maintain their output of food, and she won’t even explain the policy when asked about it. Freeland just pretends she isn’t undermining the production of Canadian agriculture, and arrogantly ignores reporters who ask her about it.

The example of Freeland running away from Keean Bexte is actually pretty telling seeing as Bexte in the past has shown he is absolutely able to respectfully sit next to Freeland on an airplane and not make the situation uncomfortable. Freeland is simply running away because she knows there is no explanation for why the federal Liberal government would crack down on fertilizer use.

The same goes for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s inability to take hard questions about any of his most radically progressive policies. He only speaks to Liberal-friendly legacy media outlets or puts out scripted propaganda videos to push his policy priorities. He is completely disconnected from the common man so should not be surprised when the common man gives him a piece of his mind when they spot him in public.

On the other hand, even if people have policy disagreements with someone like Conservative Party leadership candidates like Pierre Poilievre, Leslyn Lewis, Roman Baber, or even Jean Charest, they will take the disagreement head-on, and make an argument for their perspective. 

Although the Conservatives are not currently in power, right now, and before when Stephen Harper was Prime Minister, they seem to be able to calm things down by actually engaging in open discourse.

Of course, the Conservatives also tend not to push policies that bowl over normal people in favour of progressive idealism. You may not like all their policies, but they (excluding Doug Ford) don’t tend to share the Liberals’ open contempt for those who their policies may negatively affect. 

To reiterate, people should not seek to go find politicians just to scream at them, it’s rude and counterproductive to a cause, also, Liberal politicians should give not ruin people’s lives and gaslighting them for a change, it might just calm the tensions in the country.
