Erin O’Toole’s first test as leader of the CPC when it comes to fighting “Cancel Culture” has come in the form of Liberal party MP, Pam Damoff, spearheading the Liberal party’s crusade to exile Derek Sloan for “racism, sexism, and bigotry”.

However, Derek Sloan is showing the fire that rallied a lot of Conservatives to his campaign, and although Erin O’Toole has yet to defend Sloan from this attack, Sloan is showing why he probably won’t need his help. In an email to his supporters and on Twitter Derek Sloan fired back at Damoff for her past defending returning ISIS fighters over their Yazidi victims.

In the email Sloan went on to say:
“Interestingly, Ms. Damoff’s definition of inclusiveness does extend to ISIS militants returning to Canada, as she made clear during a Status of Women Committee meeting in 2018.
That’s when Damoff led the charge to stop a motion to study the impact that returning ISIS terrorists would have on Yazidi women and girls who had suffered at the hands of ISIS before finding refuge in Canada. Damoff choose ISIS radicals over victims of rape and sex-trafficking.”
The Liberal’s problem with Sloan stems from a video and email he put out during the leadership race criticizing Dr. Tam for her handling of the pandemic. Specifically, her consistent inability to distinguish between obvious propaganda coming from the CCP through the WHO and other organizations and reasonable medical advice. For example, she was against shutting down travel from active hot spots during the high of a pandemic, saying there was no medical evidence that it would help. No one needs a medical degree to see the flaw in that.
The central contention from the Liberals though is that Tam is born in Hong Kong there for Sloan criticism means that he is racist towards all Chinese people, and women apparently. Note, that their criticism of Sloan does not mean that they hate all white people, men and Canadians. To the Liberals, this silly absolutist logic only flows one way.
However, Pam Damoff should have vetted her own record before attacking Derek Sloan. ISIS is one of the worst organizations in human history when it comes to “racism, sexism and bigotry”. The Yazidis are the indigenous peoples of Iraq and Syria and had to bear the brunt of ISIS brutality.
In terms of racism, ISIS murdered entire villages of Yazidi and Kurdish people. They then turned all the women they captured in sex slaves, something that is not considered particularly feminist. As for their bigotry, ISIS tried to institute a Caliphate which treats all non-Muslims as second-class citizens – if they are lucky.
The Yazidi community is arguably the most persecuted people of the 21st century and why Pam Damoff would side with their ISIS captors over them is truly a mystery. Maybe Damoff should be investigated for racism, sexism and bigotry?
