Radicals on Waterloo School Board Suspend Trustee For Disagreeing With Gender Theory

Last night, during a special private meeting, the Waterloo Regional District School Board (WRDSB) recently made a highly controversial and obviously political decision by voting 6-3 to suspend long-time trustee Mike Ramsey.

The board has refused to officially state the reason that Ramsey was suspended from the board until September 30, 2022, but based on past complaints about Ramsey it can be inferred what likely started the witchhunt against him.

Essentially Ramsey was targeted by other members of the board despite being a veteran of the board himself, having served on it since 1989, and being a highly qualified school teacher, likely because he made “transphobic comments” on the internet, based on the last time other board members went after him.

In response to news breaking that the suspension had occurred the chair of the WRDSB Scott Piatkowski simply stated:

As public officials, school board trustees are duty-bound to be accountable to the public and the WRDSB Code of Conduct is our tool to ensure public accountability.

It is telling when someone is deliberately vague about why they took an action. Piatkowski clearly knows that their suspension of Ramsey was political so he is hiding behind the vague concept of “public accountability” despite not actually being public about what Ramsey is supposedly being held accountable for. 

Ramsey in response to the situation posted a quote on Twitter poking fun at the ridiculous nature of the way the board has been trying to keep everything under wraps.

Because Ramsey is trying to avoid any more nonsensical ethics complaints, he can only speak vaguely about what was generally alleged against him in the private Monday night meeting.

Ramsey told CTV News that:

I either retweeted someone tweeting something, or I had my own tweet…There’s absolutely no denial, with respect to what was posted. What it comes down to is somebody else’s viewpoint as to what the tweets constituted. This is essentially a free speech issue.

It should trouble parents in Waterloo that their school board not only apparently believes strongly in gender theory, but also has a decidedly low view of free speech. It seems like the majority of the board want to be able to silently cram down their views onto children in the Waterloo region and don’t want to hear any criticisms of their ideology, even from another member of the board.

By targeting Mike Ramsey for some social media posts the board has exposed itself, and parents should take this opportunity to put more scrutiny on the decisions the board makes. The actions of the radicals on the board suggest they likely have been doing more harm than good for public education, and more non-ideological representatives are probably needed to replace them.
